From $390 · sole trader return · fixed fee quoted before we start
Tax returns and BAS, lodged on time and explained before you sign.
Most of our year-end work is for sole traders and small companies who want the return done properly and want to know what they owe early enough to put money aside. We reconcile first, ask questions second, and never lodge something you have not had explained to you.
Ask for Alice or Tom. First conversation is forty-five minutes and no charge.

Periods only, read from today’s date. Lodgement dates depend on how you are registered and whether you lodge through us, so we confirm yours in writing rather than printing a date here. Indicative, and part of a demonstration site.
What to bring
Tick these off as you find them. If you cannot get all of it, bring what you have — we have started from a shoebox more than once.
Send it however suits: shared folder, email, or drop it in at the office. Nothing you tick here is stored.
Your progress
Still to gather: bank and credit card statements for every account the business touched — and 6 more.

What’s involved
Four partsA return is mostly reconciliation and judgement. The reconciliation is our job; the judgement is a conversation, because the answer usually depends on how you actually run the business.
Reconciling the year
We match bank and card activity against your invoices and receipts, sort out the transactions that were coded to the wrong place, and flag anything we cannot identify rather than guessing at it.
100%of accounts reconciled before the return startsDeductions, tested properly
Home office, vehicle, tools, subscriptions, depreciation and any instant write-off you are eligible for. We claim what is defensible and we tell you plainly when something is not.

GST reconciled to your accounts, PAYG withholding and instalments checked, and the figure sent to you before lodgement so there is never a surprise debit.

If you are behind, we sort out the oldest year first and negotiate the timing. Being years behind is common and it is fixable — we would rather you told us now than in June.

Questions we get asked
It is common and it is fixable. We start with the oldest outstanding year, get everything lodged in order, and deal with the timing of any liability separately. Coming forward voluntarily is treated very differently from being found.
Yes. We will want read access to the accounts and a quick word with whoever is doing the day-to-day, so the GST coding matches what we are lodging.
By the scope of the work, quoted in writing before we start. If we open the records and find the job is materially bigger than described, we stop and re-quote rather than billing the difference.
No. Plenty of clients we see once a year and otherwise deal with by phone and email. If you would rather sit down at the table in Newtown, that is genuinely fine too.
